Damavand Villa: A Contemporary Fusion of Design and Nature

A Modernized Villa Offering Intimacy and Harmony with the Surrounding Landscape

The Damavand Villa, designed by Nastaran Fadaee Jonaghani, is a stunning residential project that seamlessly integrates with its natural surroundings. Inspired by the beauty of nature and the site's landscape, this villa showcases a unique fusion of design and nature, creating a harmonious and intimate living space.

Located near Tehran in the countryside, the Damavand Villa sits on a 3600 square meter site, with a built area of 350 square meters. The primary source of inspiration for this project was the natural integration found in every growth existing in nature. The villa's design aims to create an invisible border between the building and the site, gradually transforming the roof covering into the ground grasses, resulting in a seamless connection with the surrounding environment.

What sets the Damavand Villa apart is its successful blend of construction and nature. The design embodies simplicity, brevity, and deference to the natural context, creating a space that is both elegant and environmentally conscious. The sharp edges of the building are transformed into curves, with sloping roof angles and extended roofs and walls that smoothly merge with the ground. This harmonization with the surroundings creates a sense of unity and tranquility.

The realization of the Damavand Villa involved the use of custom-made curved steel profiles for the roof's structure, polymer insulation for the roof's finishing, and shotcrete nano-cement for the facade's finishing. Custom-made windows with steel frames and perforated steel plates were also used to enhance the design's aesthetic appeal.

The Damavand Villa offers a contemporary and modernized form of a villa, providing an intimate and friendly atmosphere for its residents. The design takes inspiration from the nearby Damavand mountain, incorporating its significant views into the openings and metaphorically reflecting its form in the building's growth.

One of the main challenges in the design process was finding the proper angle to create the curved structure using steel profiles and prefabricated elements. The innovative method employed involved selecting a moderate thickness that provided stability and flexibility, along with cross elements to enhance durability.

The Damavand Villa was completed in September 2016 after months of meticulous research and design. The harsh climate of the site posed a significant challenge, requiring extensive research to ensure the villa could withstand the elements. The roof covering consists of multiple layers, including polymer insulation, a steel network of profiles, fillers such as cement and concrete, thermal isolation, gypsum, and plaster.

This exceptional design has been recognized with the Iron A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building, and Structure Design category in 2018. The award acknowledges the villa's well-designed, practical, and innovative features that meet professional and industrial requirements. The Damavand Villa stands as a testament to the integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, contributing to a better world.

The Damavand Villa is a testament to the power of design to create a harmonious and intimate living space that seamlessly integrates with its natural surroundings. With its unique fusion of construction and nature, this contemporary villa offers a modernized and friendly form that provides an exceptional living experience for its residents.
